A leading financial services organization is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Legal Entity Controller to join its Finance team. This role reports to the Financial Controller and plays a key role in supporting accounting, financial reporting, and control functions across a portfolio of legal entities. The position offers exposure to complex transactions, entity structures, regulatory reporting, and cross‑functional collaboration within a dynamic financial services environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal entity controller support and financial oversight for special purpose acquisition companies (SPACs) and related entities under U.S. GAAP.
  • Partner closely with Corporate Accounting, Legal, Tax, Technical Accounting, Treasury, and Cash Management teams to ensure appropriate accounting treatment and regulatory compliance.
  • Support financial analysis and advisory activities related to new transactions, business initiatives, and legal entity structure changes.
  • Manage month‑end and quarter‑end close activities, including preparation and review of journal entries related to:
  • Investment activities
  • Financing transactions
  • Expense accruals
  • Intercompany transactions
  • Cash activities
  • Income taxes
  • Prepare and review quarterly financial statements and supporting disclosures in compliance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Review SEC filings, including Forms S-1, 8-K, 10-Q, 10-K, S-4, and other recurring or ad hoc filings.
  • Support entity administration activities, including invoice processing, wire payments, and operational documentation.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and account substantiation, evaluate accrual adequacy, and identify and escalate significant issues to management.
  • Assist with external audit requests and coordinate responses to auditor inquiries.
  • Participate in special projects supporting Finance leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance processes, controls, and reporting efficiencies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • 3 to 8 years of progressive accounting experience within financial services, public accounting, or a related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting controls.
  • Experience with SEC reporting and legal entity accounting preferred.
  • Prior public accounting experience, particularly with a Big Four firm, is highly desirable.
  • Experience with financial reporting and ERP platforms such as Oracle, Essbase, HFM, or similar systems preferred.
  • Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly detail‑oriented with the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
