Position Summary
Assistant Vice President within Arch Construction responsible for the technical underwriting and account management of large account construction casualty programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical underwriting: solicit and review account information, identify exposure and hazards, assess insurance and financial risk, and structure appropriate loss‑sensitive programs.
- Prepare and present pricing proposals based on objective risk characteristics and internal resource inputs.
- Coordinate all administrative duties related to existing and prospective accounts.
- Account management: oversee post‑bind activities, policy production, compliance, audits, adjustments, legal agreements, TPA coordination, and other related items.
- Renewal and retention management, including renewal process, target retention and price change goals, and mid‑term account reviews.
- Sales and marketing: develop and maintain relationships with producers and insureds, discuss account issues, uncover customer needs, create a strategic plan for positioning and selling Arch products, and generate a flow of qualified submissions.
- Administrative support: manage underwriting and policy file documentation and complete ad‑hoc projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- 10+ years underwriting experience and/or construction industry experience and/or insurance industry experience.
- Expertise in Workers Compensation, General Liability, Automobile coverage forms and endorsements, and ability to tailor coverage to program design.
- Comprehensive knowledge of loss‑sensitive programs, including pricing, expensing, actuarial loss projecting techniques, retention and aggregate setting, limit profiles, ALAE, and facultative reinsurance.
- Strong exposure identification and analysis skills, cross‑functional generalist knowledge of claims, risk control, audit, premium accounting, finance, and legal.
- Understanding of regulatory and compliance issues and Arch’s product set.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Sales and negotiation skills; ability to influence without authority; proven ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Leadership and support capabilities for other team members.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent training) required; CPCU or other similar designation a plus.
Compensation
Base salary range: $150,000 – $190,000 per year, incentive eligible. Total individual compensation may vary by location, role scope, qualifications, and business needs.
