Avionics Technician

The Avionics Technician is responsible for performing operational checks, troubleshoot, and repair avionics and electrical systems on all types of aircraft. The Avionics Technician must perform a variety of installation and maintenance tasks on avionics hardware and wiring assemblies. The Avionics Technician must work within estimated time and in accordance with applicable HAECO Airframe Services, FAA, and customer standards of quality.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Perform such typical maintenance functions as cabling, component removal/installation, wire harness removal/installation, fabrication/repair of wire harness assemblies, and continuity checks.
  • Determine if work can safely be accomplished if aircraft is in a power-on mode and be able to conduct necessary testing if in a power-on mode.
  • Fabricate and install all wiring assemblies and associated mechanical equipment.
  • Remove and install avionics systems.
  • Follow all applicable specifications to accomplish a specific task.
  • Follow Customer aircraft maintenance documentation programs.
  • Follow wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, Illustrated Parts Catalog, ATA Codes, Service Bulletins and Maintenance Manuals.
  • Read electrical schematics and use them to troubleshoot and repair aircraft avionics systems.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Be familiar with ESD processes and requirements
  • Be aware of EWIS requirements
  • Must efficiently perform tasks.
  • Follow all safety procedures and specifications with appropriate PPE.
  • Execute all required paperwork as work is being completed in connection with assigned normal duties.
  • Use and operate ground support equipment, as applicable and if qualified, in a safe manner.
  • Complete assignments with little or no rework.
  • Act as a mentor and help train less experienced avionics technicians.
  • Interface effectively with members of management, other departments, and co-workers.
  • Perform other work as instructed by the Avionics Lead or Maintenance Supervisor, if qualified.

What you will need to be successful in this role:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must provide own tools as indicated on company tool list.
  • Language (read, write, speak, and understand English).
  • Eighteen (18) months or more experience troubleshooting and effecting Avionics repairs on Military, Commercial transport aircraft or two (2) or more years proven performance competence within HAECO.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant or FAA Airframe certificate preferred.
  • FCC License preferred.
  • Must provide own tools as indicated on company tool list.
  • Language (read, write, speak, and understand English).
  • Must be able to learn through OJT and demonstrate progress in competencies.
  • Be capable of reading and understanding aircraft maintenance instructions.

  • Must be able to breathe through a full-face respirator. Employees with facial hair will be required to purchase a hood to meet respirator requirements.
  • Capable of lifting fifty (50) pounds.
  • Job requires participation in the DOT random drug and alcohol testing program.
  • Normal or corrective hearing.
  • Minimum visual acuity of 20/40 corrected.
  • May be exposed to hazardous chemicals and requires the use of all safety equipment.
