Job Title: Avionics Technician Job Description
This role focuses on the installation, repair, and support of avionics systems for heavy maintenance and modification programs on 737 MAX and A330 commercial aircraft. You will work hands-on with wiring, electrical systems, and avionics components to ensure aircraft are maintained and modified to high safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities

Perform avionics installation and repair on commercial aircraft, including 737 MAX and A330 models, in support of heavy maintenance and modification programs.

Review and interpret task orders, maintenance manuals, Engineering Orders, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and tool/parts lists to plan and execute work accurately.

Carry out wiring activities including routing, termination, securing, and labeling of electrical and avionics harnesses in accordance with engineering specifications and aviation standards.

Test avionics and electrical systems to verify proper operation, identify discrepancies, and ensure compliance with technical and regulatory requirements.

Troubleshoot electrical and avionics issues, diagnose root causes, and perform corrective actions or repairs to restore system functionality.

Install, remove, and re-install aircraft interiors as required to access avionics and electrical systems, ensuring all components are properly fitted and secured.

Use appropriate hand tools, test equipment, and installation tools safely and effectively to complete assigned tasks.

Follow all documented procedures, work instructions, and quality standards for avionics systems installation and repair in a commercial MRO environment.

Maintain an organized work area, manage personal tool inventory in line with the required minimum tool list, and ensure tools are in good working condition.

Collaborate with maintenance teams, engineering, and other technicians to coordinate work, share information, and meet project schedules.

Adhere to safety protocols, facility rules, and regulatory requirements while working in hangar and aircraft environments.

Work assigned shifts, including weekends when required, and be available for overtime to support operational and project needs.

Perform physically demanding tasks, including standing for extended periods, stooping, bending, and reaching into confined or elevated work areas.
Essential Skills
-
Minimum 2+ years of experience in avionics installation and repair for Tech I roles, or 4+ years of avionics installation and repair experience in a commercial MRO environment for Tech II roles.

Hands-on experience with avionics systems installation, repair, and troubleshooting on commercial aircraft.

Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, maintenance manuals, and Engineering Orders.

Proficiency in wiring routing, termination, and testing for electrical and avionics harnesses.

Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including diagnosing and correcting issues in avionics and aircraft electrical systems.

Experience with aircraft interiors removal and installation, with at least 4+ years in this area noted as a core skill.

Familiarity with avionics systems, avionics repair practices, and aircraft electrical standards.

Capability to use standard aviation and installation tools safely and effectively, along with adherence to a defined minimum tool list.

Ability to work any assigned shift, including weekends, and to support overtime requirements.

Physical ability to stand, stoop, bend, and reach to access work areas within aircraft and hangar environments.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Airframe license (A&P or airframe-specific) highly preferred.

5+ years of experience in avionics or aircraft maintenance is highly preferred when an airframe license is not held.

Experience working in a commercial MRO hangar environment.

Preferred experience with 737 MAX or other next-generation commercial aircraft.

Comfort working from detailed technical documentation, including engineering orders and maintenance manuals.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety standards.

Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance and modification team.

Work Environment
Work takes place in a large MRO hangar setting focused on commercial aircraft maintenance and modification. The first week is dedicated to training, typically running from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with the possibility of finishing early toward the end of the week. After training, you move to an assigned floor shift. Available shift times are 05:00–15:30 or 15:30–02:00, with schedules such as Monday–Thursday, Tuesday–Friday, or Thursday–Sunday. The role routinely offers approximately 10–20 hours of overtime per week. The environment is hands-on and physically active, requiring extended periods of standing, as well as stooping, bending, and reaching to access work areas in and around aircraft. You will work with standard aviation tools, installation equipment, and test instruments in a busy hangar setting that emphasizes safety, precision, and teamwork.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
