We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Avionic Bench Technician to join our component repair team. In this role, you will test, troubleshoot, calibrate, repair, and overhaul complex aircraft electronics and components at the bench level within our climate-controlled repair station. You will work on critical units, ensuring all work strictly complies with FAA regulations and manufacturer specifications.
Core Responsibilities
- Diagnostic & Testing: Perform component-level troubleshooting, functional testing, and alignment on defective avionics units using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and automated test equipment (ATE).
- Precision Repair & Overhaul: Disassemble units, isolate component failures down to the circuit board level, and replace faulty parts (microchips, capacitors, resistors, and connectors) using advanced micro-soldering techniques.
- Technical Compliance: Interpret complex wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, maintenance manuals, and engineering prints to execute accurate repairs.
- Quality Assurance & Documentation: Accurately document all maintenance actions, parts usage, and test results in accordance with FAA regulations and company repair station manuals. Prepare units for final airworthiness certification (e.g., FAA Form 8130-3).
- Equipment Maintenance: Calibrate and maintain bench test equipment, tools, and workstations to ensure a safe, clean, and compliant environment.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. An Associate degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, Avionics, or equivalent military electronics training (e.g., Navy AT, Air Force 2A) is highly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in component-level avionics repair or electronics manufacturing.
- Soldering Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in high-reliability soldering. Certification in IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 is a strong asset.
- Technical Literacy: Ability to read, interpret, and follow complex schematics, logic blueprints, and structural maintenance manuals.
- Detail-Oriented: Exceptional manual dexterity and vision (with or without correction) for working on micro-miniature electronic components under a microscope.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
