Automation Technician
The Automation Technician is responsible for all phases of automation cell integration, configuration, and some programming. The role works closely with Engineering, Service, and Applications.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for electro-mechanical installations, setup and configuration of machines and subsystems. Support of machine testing and commissioning activities both at I-C Automation's facility and at customers locations.
- Coordinating and planning for machine systems breakdown, packaging, and re-assembly at final point of deployment.
- Perform stockkeeper functions such as receiving, labeling of incoming purchased material, packing and shipping parts orders, loading of trucks, and other duties as assigned.
- Provides technical support to engineers in areas such as production, operations, maintenance, safety, testing, process improvement or product development.
- Uses schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions or defined plans to perform testing and troubleshooting on electronic or mechanical components, equipment or systems.
- Panel build (mounting and wiring)
- Print wire tags, terminal board tags, and panel tags, as required
- Nameplate engraving preparation
- Cable assembly (solder and crimp connectors)
- Collect and prepare documentation for drawings, instruction, maintenance, and operator's manuals.
Interpersonal
- Serve as the technical interface with internal team for assigned projects.
- Supports an environment conducive to successful team interaction and customer satisfaction.
- Obtains product and system technical information and keeps up-to-date with current and new technologies.
Business
- Builds relationships at the technical and professional level with I-C Automation's customers and vendors.
- Technical execution of projects.
- Responsible for meeting project schedules, hour budgets and customer satisfaction targets for own activities in support of the project team.
Skills and Qualifications
- Vocational training and 3+ years experience required; or GED with 5+ years in related field. (but does not require a university degree).
- Must be able to perform good mechanical and electrical assembly. Must understand the use of all production equipment.
