Automation EngineerAs an Automation Engineer, you will provide electrical and controls design expertise and perform integration tasks that support customer projects and improve related products. You will collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams across the full project lifecycle, from proposal through commissioning, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective automation solutions.What You Will DoCollaborate with clients and application specialists during the tender/bid stage to define control equipment designs and specificationsMonitor and advise on costs associated with electrical designs throughout proposals and project executionProgram and configure PLCs and SCADA systems to meet technical, commercial, and project requirementsDevelop control strategies and supporting documentation to define project-specific programming requirementsCreate and manage electrical documentation, including control philosophies, design specifications, load schedules, and wiring schematicsProvide technical support including field service, commissioning, operator training, and warranty supportMaintain engineering records for drawings and associated data for future referenceEnsure timely submission of engineering deliverables and adherence to project schedules and budgetsTroubleshoot automation, integration, and network communication issuesProvide technical assistance and training to Sales and Product Support teamsPosition DetailsOnsite in Plano, TXTravel: Frequent domestic and international travel required (up to 50%)Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GEDMinimum of five (5) years of electrical and automation experience in a production, manufacturing, or design environmentAbility to read, analyze, and interpret complex technical documentsStrong problem-solving skills with the ability to apply logical and scientific thinking in varied situationsAbility to make decisions involving multiple variables in both standard and non-standard scenariosExperience with control systems such as:Rockwell (Control Logix, RS Linx, FactoryTalk Linx, BootP, Logix Echo)Siemens (S7-400, TIA Portal, Simatic Manager Step 7, Proneta)SCADA platforms (Wonderware InTouch, System Platform, Archestra, GE Cimplicity, WinCC, Ignition)Drive software (ABB Drive Composer, Starter)Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.)Ability to interpret process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), mechanical and structural drawings, and wiring schematicsNo immigration sponsorship provided for this rolePhysical DemandsFrequently required to walk, sit, use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and armsOccasionally required to standFrequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 40 poundsPreferred QualificationsElectrical & Control Engineering degree, major in Automation or Industrial AutomationExperience with Visual Basic,.NET Visual Studio, and PythonExperience with instrumentation and PID control technologiesPrevious field experienceExperience mentoring or leading junior engineers or project teamsCareers Advancing Ovivo by Ecolab – Water Technology SolutionsHelp shape the future of water and technology by joining Ovivo by Ecolab's Water Technology Solutions team.
