Automation Engineer

Job Description

Insight Global is seeking an Automation Engineer for a growing industrial automation and controls engineering firm. This individual will join an engineering team that designs and implements automation systems for manufacturing facilities, energy infrastructure, transportation systems, and other complex industrial environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on PLC programming and HMI development experience and be capable of taking projects from concept through commissioning.

Day-to-Day:

 • Develop and modify PLC programs for industrial automation projects

 • Design and configure HMI applications for manufacturing and process control systems

 • Troubleshoot electrical controls, PLC logic, and integrated automation systems

 • Support control panel builds and system integration efforts

 • Perform onsite startup, commissioning, and customer support activities

 • Work closely with engineering teams to execute multiple projects simultaneously

 • Create solutions from customer scopes of work and control narratives

 • Coordinate with manufacturers and technical support resources to resolve technical issues

Support a variety of automation projects across manufacturing, power, transportation, and industrial facilities

Skills and Requirements

• 3+ years of industrial automation experience

 • PLC programming experience

 • Ability to develop PLC programs from scope/control narrative through completion

 • HMI development experience

 • Experience troubleshooting PLC logic, electrical controls, and automation systems independently

Knowledge of industrial control systems and manufacturing environments • Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Emerson, GE, or other PLC platform experience

 • UL508A control panel shop experience

 • Industrial networking experience (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, etc.)

 • AutoCAD Electrical or panel design experience

System startup and commissioning experience
