Automation Engineer in Nationwide

Automation Engineer - Contract | Immediate Start (must be able to on/around 10th August)
nInitial 3-month contract, with strong potential to extend to 6 months
nWe are recruiting on behalf of our client, who is looking for experienced Automation Engineers to join a fast-paced, multi-site automation programme across the UK and Europe.
nYou will work alongside the client’s in-house engineering and controls teams, supporting PLC code development, implementation, commissioning, testing and continuous improvement across a network of highly automated sites. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Automation or Controls Engineer to join a high-performing team delivering complex, high-impact projects.
nFrequent travel across UK will be required.
nWhat You’ll Be Doing
n * Developing, testing and commissioning PLC code using Siemens TIA Portal
n * Supporting fault-finding and troubleshooting on live automated systems
n * Leading and contributing to process improvement initiatives
n * Integrating and migrating code across Siemens TIA Portal versions
n * Supporting the deployment and commissioning of new automation projects
n * Acting as a key technical point of contact within a skilled team of contractors and permanent engineers
nWhat We’re Looking For
n * 5+ years’ experience coding and commissioning in Siemens TIA
n * Strong working knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal (version 16 and above)
n * Experience troubleshooting complex issues across Controls, Fieldbus (Profinet, Profibus, ASi) and IT platforms
n * Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex technical issues to a range of stakeholders
n * Strong project management, organisation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and teams
n * Good written and verbal English
n * Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
n * Sound knowledge of machine safety regulations and safe working practices
n * Willingness and ability to travel frequently across the UK.
nDesirable Skills
n * Knowledge of the Ignition platform for building SCADA/HMI systems
n * Familiarity with SCADA and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) concepts
n * Ability to analyse performance metrics to drive process optimisation
n * Experience leading a change management process
