nThe Role:
nOur Chaska site is seeking a highly skilled and innovativeAutomation & Controls Engineerto lead the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing automation systems. In this role, you will be responsible for architecting and implementing advanced control systems, supporting plant operations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams including production, maintenance, and engineering to improve equipment performance, reliability, scalability, and safety across the site.
nWhat You'll Do:
nDesign, develop, and implement PLC, HMI, SCADA, and robotic control systems for manufacturing equipment
nLead automation projects from concept, design, and programming through commissioning and production support
nDevelop and maintain control system architectures, electrical designs, and documentation (schematics, network diagrams, etc.)
nProgram and troubleshoot PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred), HMIs, vision systems, and robotics platforms
nOptimize system performance, cycle times, and reliability using data-driven analysis and continuous improvement methodologies
nDiagnose and resolve complex electrical, controls, communication, and system integration issues
nSpecify, integrate, and support industrial components including sensors, instrumentation, servo systems, VFDs, motion control, and safety systems
nManage and support industrial networks (Ethernet/IP) and connectivity between systems
nCollaborate with mechanical and manufacturing engineering teams to design automated equipment, tooling, and fixtures
nLead commissioning, validation, and startup activities for new production lines and capital equipment
nEnsure compliance with safety standards, electrical codes, and company policies
nMaintain and improve documentation, version control, and change management processes
nSupport digital transformation initiatives including data collection, MES integration, and smart factory technologies
nProvide technical leadership and mentorship to technicianson automation best practices.
nCollaborate with global teams to standardize automation platforms and processes.
nStay ahead of emerging technologies and recommend strategic improvements.
nCommunicate technical concepts, risks, and solutions clearly to stakeholders at all levels

nWhat We Seek:
nBachelor's degree inElectricalEngineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
nMust be 18 years or older and have the right to work in the US without sponsorship
n3-7+ years of experience in automation and controls engineering within a manufacturing environment
nStrong experience with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley/Logix platform preferred)
nExperience with HMI/SCADA systems (FactoryTalk, Ignition, or similar)
nKnowledge of robotics systems (FANUCpreferred), including programming and integration
nProficiency in electrical system design and ability to read and develop schematics
nExperience with motion control systems, servo drives, and coordinated motion applications
nKnowledge of industrial communication protocols and networkarchitecture
nExperience supportingandleading equipment commissioning and startup activities
nStrong troubleshooting skills across electrical, controls, and integrated systems
nFamiliarity with safety systems (lockout/tagout, machine safety circuits, risk assessments)
nExperience with CAD tools (SolidWorks,SolidWorks Electrical, or similar preferred)
nKnowledge of data systems, MES integration, or Industry 4.0 technologies is a plus
nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
nAbility to work independently and lead cross-functional initiatives
nPhysical Requirements:
nMust be able to lift up to 50 lbs. at times
nMust be able to stand and walk for the duration of the shift
nAbility to use hand tools and perform repetitive motions such as bending, twisting, and reaching
nAbility to work at heights using ladders, lifts, or platforms as needed
nAbility to obtain forklift certification if required

nCompensation: $79,500- $99,500 per year range with actual pay dependent on candidate overall skills for the role
