This job also provides service to agents, insureds, and others in the course of handling those claims to their conclusion.
Work is performed under general supervision.ResponsibilitiesAssemble facts, determine coverage, evaluate the amount of loss, and analyze legal liabilityMake payments in accordance with coverage, damage, and liability determination and perform other functions or duties to properly adjust the lossStudy insurance policies, endorsements, and forms to develop foundational knowledge of Company insurance productsLearn and comply with claim handling proceduresDevelop skills in claim negotiations and settlementsEffectively service needs of agents, insureds, and othersMeet with people involved with claims, sometimes outside of our office environmentObtain and maintain appropriate adjuster's license(s) as requiredComplete relevant continuing education programs as requiredMaintain punctual attendance according to an assigned work schedule at a Company approved work locationHandle claims activities and investigations by phone, mail, and occasional on-site investigationsUse technology-based information for reference, enter information into computer systems and develop specialized skills, including but not limited to property estimating, auto estimating, and use of computer-based programs as toolsWork on increasingly complex claims as assignedRequirementsBachelor's degree or direct equivalent experience with property/casualty claims handlingAbility to read, interpret, and react to documents such as insurance policies, procedure manuals, and legal documentsAbility to assemble information, develop opinions, and clearly express decisions using sound reasoning and judgmentAbility to write reports and compose correspondenceAbility to communicate, in both oral and written formats, in a polite, clear, concise, and accurate wayAbility to demonstrate good problem-solving and interpersonal skillsAbility to accurately deal with mathematical problems, including geometry (area and volume) and financial areas (such as accuracy in sums, unit costs, and the capacity to read and develop understanding of personal and business finance documents)Ability to effectively deal with a diverse group of individuals and managed varied factual circumstancesAbility to organize assigned workAbility to maintain confidentially and data securityAbility to maintain a professional imageAbility to demonstrate basic knowledge in insurance policy review and sound organization of both investigation material and work to meet Company customer service standardsAbility to perform job functions independentlyBenefitsAt The Concord Group, we're proud to offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the wellbeing of our associates. In addition to this, we offer other components like bonus opportunities.
