The Authorization Coordinator will be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks, including verifying eligibility, submitting authorization requests for procedures/testing, check-in and check-out, answering phones, scheduling, and incoming and outgoing referral management. Instill the IMS mission, vision, and values in the work performed.Submits authorization requests to insurance for ancillary services performed in the clinicManages ancillary schedules to ensure all tests/procedures are approved to be performed before the patient arrives for testingCoordinates and manages physician clinic/procedure schedules with the RFA/Procedure schedulersWelcomes patients as they contact the office either personally or by telephone, and explains the services available, payment categories, and billing proceduresVerifies demographics, referral, and insurance info of new patients and established patientsPrep a few days before verifying insurance/outstanding liabilities/medical documentation/informing patients of copays and deductiblesRe-schedules appointments/tests/procedures if needed due to insuranceReviews and verifies patient coverage of insurance or other agencies and computes the charges to be paid by the patientAnswer all incoming calls and route them to the appropriate staff, phones must be answered within 3 rings, and phone ring volume must be turned up to level 5Verifies eligibility via insurance portals or by calling insuranceProvides excellent customer service and assistance to patients of the practiceCommunicates patient's problem/complaint to the practice managerResponsible for the overall cleanliness of the front officeRequirements:Previous experience with Athena system is a plusExcellent customer service and communication skillsExcellent communication skills-both written and verbalAbility to plan, coordinate, and organize front office tasks andGood computer skills and being familiar with Microsoft (Word and Excel)Knowledge in Insurance portals a plusEducation:High School Diploma or GEDAt least 1 year of customer service skills and experienceJoining IMS Care Center is more than saying "yes" to making the world a healthier place.
