A progressive regional CPA firm is seeking an experienced Audit Director to lead and grow its Governmental Audit practice. This leadership role offers a clear path to partnership, a collaborative culture, and a strong commitment to work-life balance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple audit and assurance engagements for governmental entities, including municipalities, counties, special districts, and charter schools.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between clients, engagement teams, and firm leadership.
  • Manage engagement planning, staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and delivery.
  • Review audit workpapers, reports, and financial statements for quality and compliance.
  • Mentor and develop staff while providing technical guidance and leadership.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Participate in business development activities and help expand the firm's Government and Not-for-Profit practice.

Qualifications

  • CPA license required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 10+ years of public accounting experience, including leadership experience at the Senior Manager level or above.
  • Extensive experience auditing governmental entities.
  • Strong knowledge of Yellow Book (GAGAS), GAAS, and Uniform Guidance.
  • Experience with Single Audits and Not-for-Profit organizations preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships and contribute to business development.
