Role Overview
Audio Engineers apply audio production and engineering expertise to AI research projects that improve how machine learning systems understand real-world audio workflows. You will use technical audio tools to create, edit, and evaluate content and prompts that teach AI models to perform professional audio tasks. Projects run year-round with opportunities opening periodically across different audio and AI domains.
Key Responsibilities- Use tools such as Audacity, Ardour, Linux Multi-Media Studio and similar software to prepare and manipulate audio for AI evaluation tasks.
- Develop domain-specific prompts and instruction sets that reflect real audio-engineering workflows.
- Evaluate language model and AI responses against professional audio standards and provide detailed feedback.
- Work asynchronously with remote AI research teams to iterate on test cases and data.
- Contribute to improving model accuracy on practical audio tasks through careful annotation, scoring, and technical guidance.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience using one or more of the following: Audacity, Ardour, Linux Multi-Media Studio, or comparable audio production and technical tools.
- Demonstrated ability to work asynchronously and communicate technical feedback to distributed research teams.
- Location: Remote, work independently from any location.
- Employment type: Part-time.
- Schedule: Asynchronous, flexible hours with no minimum hourly commitment required.
- Project placement depends on project availability, projects open periodically throughout the year.
- Up to $125/hr (depending on the project)
- F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may be eligible to participate. Work with your Designated School Official to confirm eligibility.
- If your school requires a CPT course enrollment, this program may not meet that requirement.
- STEM OPT is not supported for this program.
- Refer to the program help documentation or your school for additional details on acceptable work authorizations.
- Create an account with the program portal and complete the requested profile information.
- Verify your identity as part of the onboarding checks.
- Join and onboard into audio-relevant projects when matching opportunities are available.
- Begin assigned tasks, submit deliverables, and receive compensation for completed project work.
