Attorney

Melick & Porter, a prominent insurance defense litigation firm, seeks a knowledgeable Civil Litigation Attorney for its Connecticut office. The Associate will work alongside a team of collegial litigators led by nationally acclaimed partners. Candidates will gain hands-on experience defending a wide range of complex litigation disputes. We are looking for someone with a Connecticut license who has 3 to 5 years of litigation experience. Prior courtroom experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough legal research to support case preparation and strategy development.

• Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, discovery motions, and settlement agreements.

• Attend and conduct depositions, actively participating in case development.

• Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients while maintaining strong communication with all parties involved.

• Prepare for and attend court appearances by organizing case files and gathering necessary evidence.

• Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex cases and provide support during trials.

• Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations relevant to tort law.

• Maintain accurate records of case progress and client communications.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

• Active license to practice law in Connecticut.

• 3-5 years of litigation experience.

• Outstanding writing and oral communication skills.

• Capable of adapting to a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.

• Ability to work independently while contributing to team efforts.

• A passion for excellence in the practice of law.
