Overview
IP Litigation Associate — Location: Washington, D.C. (Hybrid). A leading intellectual property law firm is seeking a Patent Litigation Associate with 2–4 years of experience to join its high-performing IP Litigation Team. This team is nationally recognized for its high impact work.
Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and briefs
- Prepare arguments and assist in courtroom presentations
- Collaborate with senior attorneys on case strategy and trial preparation
- Manage complex IP litigation matters from inception through resolution
- Work closely with technical experts and prosecution teams to build strong cases
- Engage in appellate work and inter partes proceedings as needed
Qualifications
- JD from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction; must be eligible to waive into the D.C. Bar or sit for the exam
- 1–4 years of experience in patent or IP litigation at a law firm
- Strong academic credentials
- Foundation in intellectual property and patent law
- Prior clerkship experience highly preferred (bonus offered for direct transitions from federal clerkships)
- Hybrid work model preferred; remote arrangements considered case-by-case
Additional Information
- Base salary range: $200,000 – $310,000 (based on a 2000-hour billable commitment)
- Flexible hours program available: billable targets between 1400–2000 hours with adjusted compensation
