Overview
Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for an Attorney Recruiting Manager in the Washington, DC office.
This is a hybrid position with the expectation of being in the office at least 3 days a week, and subject to change based on business needs.
Responsibilities
What responsibilities will you have?
As an Attorney Recruiting Manager at Orrick, you will join a top-notch team that places an emphasis on innovation and adapting to the evolving practices of competitive legal recruiting. As one of the recruiting contacts for the Washington, DC office, you will be responsible for supporting local attorney onboarding and the local summer program, as well as representing Orrick select D.C. law school events. You will work with the Director of US Recruiting and Associate Director of US Lateral Recruiting to help manage lateral recruiting for the Strategic Advisory and Government Enforcement (SAGE) Business Unit and its associated practice groups, including Cyber, Privacy & Data Innovation, Financial & Fintech Advisory, International Trade & Investment, and Technology Transactions. You will also collaborate with the Associate Director of Law School Recruiting on campus recruiting strategies and logistics, particularly concerning the recruitment of SAGE Summer Associates and First-Year Associates.
A core part of this role is people leadership. You will be expected to actively mentor and develop junior members of the recruiting team — investing time in their professional growth, providing regular feedback, and helping them build the skills and confidence to thrive. We are looking for someone who leads by example, rolls up their sleeves alongside their team, and creates an environment where everyone feels supported and empowered to do their best work.
You will be expected to understand Orrick's innovative vision and the Associate Recruiting Department's role in realizing that mission, to know the firm and its practice groups, how to best represent Orrick, and to identify the credentials and traits that are predictors of successful Orrick attorneys.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Arts or Science or equivalent work experience required.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in recruiting, preferably in a law firm. Prior management and legal recruiting experience with entry-level, lateral associate, and/or clerkship recruiting is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Zoom, Teams, Flo Recruit, and applicant tracking systems, such as iCIMS or LawCruit preferred.
- Extraordinary verbal and written communication and presentation skills are essential.
- Demonstrated leadership and team-management skills, with a genuine commitment to mentoring and developing junior team members. You take the time to coach, guide, and invest in the people around you — and you find that work as rewarding as any other part of the job.
- Exceptionally organized with meticulous attention to detail. You are the kind of person who catches what others miss and takes pride in getting things right the first time.
- Adept at juggling many concurrent projects and competing priorities in a high-volume, dynamic, and rapidly changing environment. You thrive when managing multiple workstreams simultaneously and have a proven system for staying on top of it all.
- A relentlessly enthusiastic team player who brings positive energy and a collaborative spirit to every interaction. You are the person others want on their project because you make the work better and the team stronger.
- The ability to be innovative and operate with a broad range of professionals. Demonstrated experience working both independently and harmoniously within a team and across organizational levels.
- Your ambition and dedication to work beyond the position's written duties and assist in various areas of the firm's operations is essential.
