A well-established nonprofit legal services organization is seeking a passionate Housing Staff Attorney to advocate for low-income residents in Broward County. Position Summary
The Housing Staff Attorney will manage a variety of landlord-tenant matters and provide high-quality legal representation to underserved residents. The role involves handling cases from intake through resolution, including litigation, negotiations, advocacy, and community impact work.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent clients in landlord-tenant and housing-related matters.
- Manage all phases of casework, including:
- Client and witness interviews
- Legal research and case preparation
- Discovery and investigations
- Negotiations and court appearances
- Appeals when necessary
- Identify and address systemic housing issues impacting the community.
- Prepare case reports, funding reports, and assist with grant applications.
- Train and supervise paralegals and legal interns.
- Collaborate with attorneys, staff, and community partners to support client success.
Qualifications
- Active membership in the Florida State Bar .
- Strong legal research, writing, and litigation skills.
- Ability to analyze complex legal issues and prepare legal documents.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to serving diverse and underserved communities.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
