Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Attorney to join our team to provide high-quality legal representation and counseling in civil litigation matters. The Attorney will focus on defending clients in insurance defense and construction-related disputes, including construction defect, commercial and business litigation, and personal injury cases. The role requires strong litigation skills, effective case management, and the ability to advise clients and coordinate with insurers and outside experts to achieve favorable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent clients in civil litigation matters, including pre-trial motion practice, discovery, depositions, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.
- Handle insurance defense matters and coordinate with insurance carriers, adjusters, and coverage counsel to manage claims and coverage issues.
- Manage construction-related disputes, including construction defect claims, contractor and subcontractor disputes, and related commercial litigation.
- Develop case strategies to defend clients against personal injury and business litigation claims, preparing pleadings, briefs, and legal memoranda.
- Conduct legal research, draft motions and briefs, and present arguments in hearings and trials as necessary.
- Communicate regularly with clients to provide case updates, legal advice, and practical risk management recommendations.
- Work with experts, consultants, and outside counsel to strengthen defenses, prepare expert reports, and coordinate litigation support.
- Negotiate settlements and alternative dispute resolution, including mediations and arbitrations, to resolve matters efficiently when appropriate.
- Maintain organized case files, manage deadlines, and ensure compliance with court rules and firm policies.
- Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and associates, delegating tasks, reviewing work product, and supporting professional development.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction (required).
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to prepare persuasive pleadings and briefs.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and client counseling skills; ability to defend client interests effectively.
- Proven ability to manage a busy caseload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience supervising or mentoring associates or support staff (nice to have).
- Professional demeanor, ethical standards, and ability to work collaboratively with teams and external partners.
