What You’ll Do
- As an Insurance Defense Attorney, you will manage matters through the litigation process, from initial investigation and case assessment through resolution. Responsibilities include:
- Handle a diverse insurance defense caseload with increasing autonomy
- Develop case strategy in partnership with clients and senior attorneys
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, settlement agreements, and other litigation documents
- Conduct legal research and prepare clear, persuasive written analysis
- Participate in hearings, depositions, mediations, and other court‑related proceedings
- Communicate proactively with clients, opposing counsel, carriers, and industry professionals
- Manage competing priorities, deadlines, and case‑related responsibilities with close attention to detail
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in South Carolina
- 1-3 years of litigation experience; insurance defense experience is strongly preferred
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters while maintaining high‑quality work product
- Professional communication skills and a client‑service‑oriented approach
- Interest in developing a long‑term career within insurance defense litigation
