Attorney - Insurance Defense

Our client is seeking a motivated Insurance Defense Attorney to join its growing Charleston office. What You’ll Do

• As an Insurance Defense Attorney, you will manage matters through the litigation process, from initial investigation and case assessment through resolution. Responsibilities include:
• Handle a diverse insurance defense caseload with increasing autonomy
• Develop case strategy in partnership with clients and senior attorneys
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, settlement agreements, and other litigation documents
• Conduct legal research and prepare clear, persuasive written analysis
• Participate in hearings, depositions, mediations, and other court‑related proceedings
• Communicate proactively with clients, opposing counsel, carriers, and industry professionals
• Manage competing priorities, deadlines, and case‑related responsibilities with close attention to detail

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
• Active license to practice law in South Carolina
• 1-3 years of litigation experience; insurance defense experience is strongly preferred
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
• Ability to manage multiple matters while maintaining high‑quality work product
• Professional communication skills and a client‑service‑oriented approach
• Interest in developing a long‑term career within insurance defense litigation
