About the Position: This is a non-state service position (NS-14). The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is recruiting for a Non-State Service and Time-Limited position as an Attorney I within the Office of Executive. This is a first-level attorney position that will report to MEMA's General Counsel and be responsible for assisting in the handling of legal matters concerning federal or state regulations, federal and state grant programs (both disaster-related and programmatic), state procurements for leases and contracts; and implementing state procedures, etc.Key Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:• Analyzing and interpreting state, federal, and agency regulations.• Preparing documents and instruments for administrative and executive decisions and actions.• Representing the agency before state and federal administrative bodies.• Performing legal research and preparing legal briefs.• Managing the agency's public records process and all records retention policies and procedures.• Providing feedback and guidance to office directors handling employment and regulatory matters.• Will be required to complete FEMA and MEMA disaster-related training courses.***Please note this position is with the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), and all MEMA positions can be called back to work outside the standard work schedule.
