Attorney - Commercial Litigation

Associate AttorneyHaynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A. With more than 110 attorneys, we encompass a broad spectrum of transactional and litigation practice areas for large corporations, small businesses, and governmental entities.We currently have an opening at one of our South Carolina offices (Columbia, Greenville and/or Charleston) for an Associate Attorney in the Commercial Litigation practice group. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package in a professional, congenial work environment.The Associate Attorney is responsible for handling complex business disputes, providing strong research and writing skills, and playing an active role in all phases of litigation.Responsibilities:Handle all aspects of commercial litigation matters from inception through trial, including:Legal research and analysisDrafting pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefsPreparing witnesses and taking depositionsArguing motions in courtAssisting with trial preparation and participating in trials/arbitrationsDevelop and maintain client relationships; communicate effectively with clients and opposing counselManage multiple case files and deadlines simultaneouslyCollaborate with partners and senior attorneys on case strategyParticipate in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) when applicableRequired Qualifications:J.D.

from an accredited law schoolLicensed and in good standing to practice law in South Carolina (additional bar admissions a plus)2–5 years of experience in commercial litigationStrong analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skillsProficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, Lexis)Excellent organizational and time-management skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamPreferred Qualifications:Experience in state and federal courtsBackground in contract disputes, business torts, shareholder disputes, or construction litigationFamiliarity with electronic discovery and case management systemsJudicial clerkship experience a plus
