Insurance Defense Attorney | Charlotte, NC (Hybrid) | $120,000 to $240,000 | Trucking, Premises, Construction Defect, Product and Professional Liability
An adjuster with a full pending list wants one thing from defense counsel. Never being surprised.
Be the attorney they never have to chase, and the files keep coming. Eventually to you, not just the partners.
I’m recruiting for a national insurance defense and coverage firm, hiring in its Charlotte office.
The average attorney there has been with the firm for over five years. In this market, that number says more than any mission statement.
I keep coming back to this firm for a reason. I’ve placed multiple attorneys with them across the Carolinas.
If you’ve defended any of these, you already speak the language
- Trucking and transportation claims
- Premises liability
- Construction defect, plus disputes between owners, contractors, subs and architects
- Product liability
- Professional liability, including malpractice and E&O
Why defense attorneys make this move
- You see both sides of a claim. The firm handles coverage too, so you learn how a carrier weighs a file before it becomes your lawsuit.
- National reach, Charlotte docket. You get the carrier relationships of a national platform, working NC files.
- The work is already here. Carriers send files now. You don’t need a book.
- Adjusters will know you by name. You make the calls and write the reports, early on.
- You’re developed as a future partner. When attorneys stay this long, the partners mentor with the long game in mind.
Your docket
- Your own files, from first report to resolution or trial
- Depositions, mediations and court appearances, with partners in your corner
Pay and hours, at two levels
- Associates handling their own files with partner support: around $120,000
- Partners who run their own docket and carrier relationships: up to $240,000
- Billable target: 1,850 to 1,900 hours, depending on level
Three days in the office. Two are yours.
- Most of the team is in Charlotte three days a week. The other two, you build around hearings, depositions and your life.
You’ll bring
- 2+ years of insurance defense experience
- North Carolina bar admission
- Reports an adjuster can read in two minutes and act on
- A docket you run without being chased
One strong defense background is enough. Nobody expects all five.
