Hybrid Contract Staffing and Recruiting

Construction Litigation Associate | Charleston, SC | $150,000 to $320,000 DOE

Good construction litigators get noticed. Here, they also get the file.

  • I’m Clark Pollins at Distinct Recruitment, recruiting on behalf of a regional law firm in Charleston.
  • They hire people they expect to grow. Then they hand them the clients, the cases and the visibility to actually do it.

What changes when you move

  • Promotion has a track record. Three construction lawyers made partner this year alone.
  • Your name goes on things. You’ll handle client calls, help shape expert strategy, take depositions and argue your own motions.
  • You’ll know the players. The firm represents general contractors, owners and developers, homebuilders, design professionals and sureties. Projects run from stadiums and convention centers to pharmaceutical facilities and residential communities. The same clients and experts turn up across your files, so relationships build fast.

How the job actually runs

  • Billable target
  • Hybrid is your call.

The work

  • Defect, delay, payment and contract disputes across the whole project chain, from owners and developers to contractors, design professionals and sureties
  • Critical path schedules. Retainage. Differing site conditions. Change order logs that tell a very different story from the contract. If that list makes you want to open the file, you’re who they want.
  • Site visits. Occasionally in boots, sometimes on a stadium floor.

About that salary range

  • It’s wide because the firm is hiring at two levels.
  • Mid level associates will sit toward the lower end. Senior associates/ Partners ready to run cases from intake to trial sit toward the top.

You might be the one if

  • You have 2+ years of litigation experience, with room up to senior associate level
  • You’re admitted in South Carolina, or eligible
  • You can turn a 400 page spec book into three sentences a juror will remember
  • Construction isn’t in your title yet. Insurance defense with construction files, real estate litigation, surety or design professional work all count here.
