Construction Litigation Associate | Charleston, SC | $150,000–$320,000 DOE
Good construction litigators get noticed. Here, they also get the file.
I’m Clark Pollins at Distinct Recruitment, recruiting for a regional law firm in Charleston. They hire people they expect to grow, then give them the clients, cases and visibility to do it.
What changes when you move
- Promotion has a track record. Three construction lawyers made partner this year alone.
- Your name goes on things. You’ll handle client calls, shape expert strategy, take depositions and argue your own motions.
- You’ll know the players. The same clients and experts turn up across your files, so relationships build fast.
How the job runs
- 1,800–1,900 billable hours
- Hybrid schedule (You choose the split)
The work
- Defect, delay, payment and contract disputes for general contractors, owners and developers, homebuilders, design professionals and sureties
- Projects from stadiums and convention centers to pharmaceutical facilities and residential communities
- Critical path schedules. Retainage. Differing site conditions. Change order logs that tell a very different story from the contract. If that list makes you want to open the file, you’re who they want.
About that salary range
It’s wide because the firm is hiring at two levels. Mid-level associates sit toward the lower end. Senior associates ready to run cases from intake to trial sit toward the top.
You might be the one if
- You have 2+ years of litigation experience
- You’re admitted in South Carolina, or (clarify eligibility)
- You can turn a 400-page spec book into three sentences a juror will remember
- Construction isn’t in your title yet. Insurance defense with construction files, real estate litigation, surety or design professional work all count.
