Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 13,000 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. Our District has one early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9 - 12th grade campuses. The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Co-Principals the Attendance Support Clerk will act as the point- person responsible for all attendance matters at WHS.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Develop, monitor, and implement attendance policies and their enforcements with Administration ;including but not limited to HERO and using district systems
  2. Develop and monitor tardiness policies and their enforcements with Administration
  3. Document all communication and outreach efforts for truant students with weekly follow-up reports to the principal(s)/director(s) using district Student Information System
  4. Consult, communicate and collaborate on a weekly basis with Truancy Officers and theWPS60 Office of Student Outreach
  5. Assist Principals and Directors with the monitoring and enforcement of attendance and tardiness policies
  6. Work with parents/guardians and truancy regarding attendance/truancy to develop support plans
  7. Seeks interventions for students with attendance and truancy issues
  8. Run data assessment reports, positive attendance and perfect attendance report, etc. as requested
  9. Generate and mail tardy/attendance letters per district guidelines (3, 6, 9, 12 absences/tardies) on weekly basis
  10. Support on time efforts by participating in hallway and cafeteria visibility between class periods
  11. Report on all district required count days
  12. Collaborate with Truant/Culture and Climate Departments in tracking habitual truants
  13. Receives and follows-up on all daily attendance calls for the High School, takes messages and routes calls appropriately and when necessary, editing student attendance daily in Infinite Campus
  14. Will collaborate with Health Office on calls/notes received for medical reasons

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements: Three to five (3-5) years of successful secondary (6-12) experience in the public schools or private schools of equivalent status. Experience working with youth and families. Minimum typing speed of 45 wpm and the ability to pass required proficiency test(s). Confidentiality is a must.
Experience: Ability to use modern office technology, such as word and spreadsheet software. The ability to do record keeping, ability to prioritize and work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to professionally and quickly handle questions and concerns from co-workers, students, and parents. Excellent organizational skills, with ability to keep all records and files up-to-date and neat. Ability to accomplish scheduling, including proficiency using the district electronic calendar system
Education/Credentials Minimum Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent
Additional Information: WPSS / 1A , 10 Month Work Year
