Athletic Trainer: Prep SchoolPreparatory School - Milledgeville, GA 31061OverviewPosition Type Full Time Education Level 4 Year DegreeDescriptionPURPOSE OF THE POSITION:The Prep Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing comprehensive sports medicine services to student-athletes in grades 6-12, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation. This position supports the overall health and safety of athletic programs and works closely with coaches, administration, parents, and healthcare providers.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Administrative ResponsibilitiesAssist with the management of the daily operation of the Athletic Training Room.Serving as a referral source to the Health Services Department for evaluation of injuries within the Scope of Care of a Certified Athletic Trainer.Assist with the maintenance of our Third-Party Reimbursement.Help ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies. (HIPPA, EPA, OSHA, NATA, GATA, NJCAA)Assisting with the development and implementation of all Sports Medicine Policies and Procedures.Implementation of Emergency Action Plans through the various practice/game sites.Comprise daily injury reports for assigned teams.Manage and maintain inventory supply.Performs other duties, coverages, and responsibilities as appointed by the Athletic Director or PrincipalFunctions effectively as a member of the sports medicine teamSupports the Georgia Military College Preparatory School missionProactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Georgia Military College Preparatory School.Report to Athletic DirectorClinical ResponsibilitiesProvides high-quality sports medicine services to Georgia Military College Preparatory student athletesDaily treatment and evaluation of athletic injuriesApplication of rehabilitation regimens for athletic injuries as well as, pre and post-surgical rehabilitation as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.Determining the return-to-play status of athletic injuries.Maintain proper records of treatment progressions.Assist with the development of In-season, Off-season, and Pre-season strength & conditioning programs.Supervision of Athletic Training Students and Graduate Assistants assigned to GMC as a Clinical RotationDemonstrates clinical competence in the provision of effective service delivery appropriate to the patient's specific needs and diagnosisUnderstands medical diagnosis and treatment interventionsFollows established rehabilitation protocols based on diagnosisProvides education to parent and patients in an ongoing fashion via text, phone, or emailCompletes injury documentation on each patient and submits dailyCompletes documentation daily with appropriate contentDemonstrates effective use of time for direct and indirect patient care and departmental responsibilitiesDemonstrates commitment to continuous professional growth and improvementDelivers competent age-appropriate patient care, integrating infection control and body substance precautions, patient safety, body mechanics, and knowledge of growth and developmentIdentifies patient/family need for services from ancillary departments and provides follow-up and referral as necessaryCoverage ResponsibilitiesShift Start TimeCoverage of all Prep Home games and some regular season/region/state games (Must be willing to travel).Coverage of all Prep practices and activities*Criminal background check and drug screen must be cleared before any candidate may begin working.Georgia Military College is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.QualificationsPosition Requirements Bachelor's degree or entry level master's degree in related field from an accredited programCertified or willing to be certified by NATA's board of certificationMaintains current licensure by the state of Georgia or eligible to applyCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationClinical competencies in treatment aspects for sports medicine patientsAdhere to NATA best practices, and state laws of practice related to athletic training in GeorgiaWilling to work a flexible schedule and perform a variety of work-related tasks as needed
