Position Description
The TTUHSC Department of Psychiatry is dedicated to the TTUHSC mission to enrich the lives of others by educating students to become collaborative health care professionals, providing excellent patient care, and advancing knowledge through innovative research. TTUHSC School of Medicine is a community based medical school in that we collaborate with community hospitals as training sites instead of owning our own. This allows us to provide a varied training experience for our residents and medical students and for faculty to fulfill their unique interests in the practice and science of psychiatry.

Pay and Salary
Salary commensurate with related education, experience and/or skills. Pay grade maximum and minimum are the same. Pay basis monthly. Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.

Major/Essential Functions
- Evaluate patients to distinguish between primary mental health conditions and symptoms caused directly by substance use.
- Prescribe and monitor specialized medications to reduce cravings, manage withdrawal symptoms, and block the effects of addictive substances.
- Conduct counseling and behavioral therapies to help patients develop coping skills and prevent relapse.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create holistic, individualized treatment plans.
- Formulate sustainable, culturally congruent interventions.
- Provide supervision, mentoring and teaching to residents and students.
Required Qualifications
- MD/DO or equivalent.
- Completion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 3.
- Completion of the residency in psychiatry, or in the process of completing.
- Completion of the residency in addiction psychiatry or fellowship, or experience in Addiction Psychiatry.
- ABMS board eligibility, or in the process of completing training to become board eligible, in Psychiatry.
