Position Overview
Associate General Practice Veterinarian (DVM) at Monte Vista Small Animal Hospital in Turlock, California. Provide comprehensive medical and surgical services to pets and support a team of veterinarians, technicians, and staff. Work closely with the Hospital Manager and Regional Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Comprehensive patient exams and medical work‑ups
- Client communication and education
- Perform diagnostic procedures and surgery
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Pharmacy duties including prescribing medications and following controlled substance protocols
- Promote teamwork and staff efficiency
- Collaborate with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations
- Evaluate and monitor protocols for daily hospital operations from intake to discharge
- Monitor cases in the hospital and attend daily rounds when possible to ensure high standards are maintained
- Participate in practice management updates and training at all levels
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications (Required)
- Veterinarian degree (DVM) from an accredited college or university
- Current State Veterinary License
- DEA registration obtained and maintained
- 1+ year(s) of experience in a veterinary practice
- Strong diagnostic and clinical skills
- Excellent surgical and dental skills
- Ability to work well in a team‑oriented environment
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Commitment to providing compassionate and high‑quality veterinary care
- Effective communication with all members of the medical and hospital staff
- Client communication skills, including rapport building and clear explanations
- Display confidence and reassurance with pets experiencing stress or pain
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds; occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
- Ability to perform moderately physically demanding work on a periodic basis
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
- Demonstrate clinical knowledge and skill in complex examinations (cardiovascular, respiratory, orthopedic, neurological, etc.) and prescribe appropriate treatments
- Develop solutions for challenges in managing a high‑quality veterinary hospital
- Effective communication of diagnostic and therapeutic options to clients and staff
- Professional teamwork with constructive feedback
- Business acumen related to management and finances of the veterinary practice
- Knowledge of ethical principles guiding patient decisions
- Commitment to continuing education and support learning for others
Compensation and Benefits Overview
- Salary Range: $150,000 – $170,000

Pay Range: $150,000 — $170,000 USD
