Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Associate Veterinarian to join our team at Mono Way Veterinary Hospital in Sonora, California. The candidate will provide high‑quality veterinary care and excel in communication with clients. They will work alongside experienced veterinarians, technicians, and support staff, and collaborate with the Hospital Manager and Regional Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive patient exams and medical work‑ups
  • Client communication and education
  • Perform diagnostic procedures and surgery
  • Maintain accurate medical records
  • Pharmacy duties: prescribing medications and following controlled‑substance protocols
  • Promote teamwork and staff efficiency
  • Work with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations
  • Evaluate and monitor protocols for daily hospital operations from intake to discharge
  • Monitor cases and attend daily rounds to uphold high standards
  • Participate in practice‑management updates and training at all levels
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Qualifications (Required)

  • Veterinarian degree (DVM) from an accredited college or university
  • Current State Veterinary License
  • DEA registration must be obtained and maintained
  • 1+ years of experience in a veterinary practice
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical skills
  • Excellent surgical and dental skills
  • Team‑oriented work ethic
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to compassionate, high‑quality care
  • Effective communication with Medical and Hospital staff
  • Client communication: elicit information, establish rapport, explain care
  • Confidence and reassurance with stressed or ill pets
  • Ability to perform occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
  • Ability to perform moderately physically demanding work and lift up to 50 lbs

Compensation Overview

  • Salary range: $170,000 – $190,000
  • Up to $100,000 sign‑on bonus for a 3‑year commitment
  • Relocation assistance
