Position Overview
The Associate Veterinarian will work at Banning Veterinary Hospital in Banning, California. The hospital is a 14,000‑square‑foot, state‑of‑the‑art facility with 11 private exam rooms, offering services for small animals and occasional large animals. The role involves patient care, client communication, diagnostic procedures, surgery, and collaboration with the Hospital Manager and Regional Manager. Relief shifts are available.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient exams and medical work‑ups.
- Communicate and educate clients.
- Perform diagnostic procedures and surgery.
- Maintain accurate medical records.
- Prescribe medications and follow controlled substance protocols.
- Promote teamwork and staff efficiency.
- Collaborate with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities.
- Monitor protocols from intake to discharge.
- Participate in practice management updates and training.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications (Required)
- Veterinarian degree (DVM or VMD) from an accredited institution.
- Current State Veterinary License.
- DEA registration.
- 1+ year of experience in a veterinary practice.
- Strong diagnostic and clinical skills.
- Excellent surgical and dental skills.
- Team‑oriented work style.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to compassionate, high‑quality care.
- Effective communication with medical/hospital staff.
- Client communication, rapport building, and explanation skills.
- Confidence and reassurance when dealing with stressed pets.
- Ability to perform tasks involving climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Moderately physically demanding work; ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
- Clinical knowledge in cardiovascular, respiratory, orthopedic, neurological exams and prescription of appropriate treatment.
- Problem‑solving and ability to manage a high‑quality veterinary hospital.
- Effective communication of diagnostic and therapeutic options to clients.
- Professionalism and willingness to give/receive constructive feedback.
- Business acumen related to hospital management and finances.
- Knowledge of ethical principles guiding patient care decisions.
- Commitment to continuing education and facilitation of others’ learning.
Pay Range
$150,000 — $180,000 USD per year.
