Introduction
Our client is a privately owned veterinary hospital seeking a full-time or part-time Associate Veterinarian to join its team. The practice primarily provides small animal care for dogs and cats, with the opportunity to work with large animal patients including cattle, sheep, goats, horses, and pigs for a veterinarian with an interest in doing so. The incoming veterinarian can focus exclusively on small animal medicine if preferred.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Associate Veterinarian will provide comprehensive medical care including patient examinations, preventative care, vaccinations, wellness counseling, diagnostics, treatment of medical conditions, routine surgery, and dentistry. A typical day has one doctor performing surgeries in the morning while another begins appointments, followed by both doctors seeing appointments in the afternoon. Appointments are generally 30 minutes, with work-ins and drop-off appointments accommodated when required. Lunch is scheduled from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, with the final appointment at 4:30 PM. Both experienced veterinarians and new graduates will be considered, with informal mentorship available for new graduates. Full-time is considered 32 or more hours per week and is typically worked across five days, although the hospital is open to a four-day work week. Part-time candidates are also welcome. There are no weekend or on-call responsibilities.
Practice Details
The hospital is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and is soon to be closed on weekends. The practice is equipped with in-house diagnostic equipment, digital radiography, ultrasound, laser therapy, digital medical records, a surgical suite, a small animal dental scaling unit, and a surgical laser. Services include wellness exams, preventative care, vaccinations, dentistry, routine surgery, spay and neuter procedures, microchipping, nutritional counseling, behavior management, parasite prevention, onsite diagnostics, and laser therapy. Advanced cases and emergencies can be referred to specialists in the surrounding area. The hospital also works with a local humane society to provide surgical and other veterinary services and aims to offer flexible scheduling to support doctors' work-life balance and family commitments.
Team
The hospital has two full-time veterinarians and one part-time veterinarian, supported by two licensed veterinary technicians, one technician currently working toward licensure, one veterinary assistant, and two receptionists. The team works collaboratively and supports one another, with an emphasis on teamwork, flexibility, compassionate patient and client care.
