The Associate SQA Engineer (Math) works under the guidance of senior team members to validate probability calculations, payback percentages, hit frequency, and volatility metrics before products are submitted for regulatory approval or released to market. Will interface with Game/System Development and Math/Systems staff to resolve issues in a timely manner, and will develop a working understanding of software test methodologies and procedures to ensure testing efficiency and high quality.Primary Roles and ResponsibilitiesUse programming skills to create validation programs that check the accuracy of game mathExecute test plans and test scripts to validate game math models, pay tables, and probability calculations for new and existing productsFollow all the SQA Work Instructions dailyVerify RTP (return-to-player), feature calculations against game math specificationsSubmit and track any math-related discrepancies or product issues found during testing to ensure that they are resolvedUtilize spreadsheets, statistical tools, and required databases to analyze and confirm game outcome distributionsProvide input to the weekly project status report for each assigned projectProvide detailed testing notes and a completion report at the end of each projectParticipate and provide input during root cause analysis for identified math or statistical discrepanciesInterface with Game Development and Math/Systems teams to effectively communicate and resolve reported issues in a timely manner before the gaming product is releasedDevelop a working understanding of software test methodologies, statistical validation techniques, and the overall product development lifecycleReproduce issues, when necessary, to assist Development in identifying the root cause of math-related defectsEscalate project risks or blockers to senior SQA Math team members and management, as neededOther Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist the SQA Department on special projectsSupport process improvement initiatives within the Math QA functionBuild working relationships with upstream teams (Game Math, Systems, Development) that have a direct impact on Software QAContinue to develop technical and statistical skills through on-the-job training and mentorship from senior team memberRequirementsExperience and EducationBachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, or a related field preferred0 - 2 years of relevant QA, mathematics, or statistical analysis experience; recent graduates encouraged to applyAcademic and/or working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and statistical functionsProficient in C++, C# and/or similar Object Oriented languagesAcademic and/or work experience with probability, statistics, or discrete mathematics courseworkBasic knowledge of the gaming industry and game math concepts (RTP, volatility, hit frequency) a plusPreferred SkillsKnowledge or experience with Object-Oriented programming languagesKnowledge or experience with Python, VBA, or other scripting languages for data analysis a plusKnowledge or experience with SQL a plusWorking knowledge of probability, statistics, and combinatoricsWorking knowledge or experience with TestRailWorking knowledge or experience with the JIRA Defect Management toolWorking knowledge of RNG (random number generator) concepts and game math principles a plusWorking knowledge of Agile methodologies a plusExcellent written and oral communication skillsAbility to communicate and collaborate with other team membersAbility to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environmentDetail-oriented and organizedCapable of providing input and potential solutions to identified issuesAbility to work well with guidance from senior team members while building independencePhysical Demands/Working Conditions:Vision: Close vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, peripheral vision, ability to distinguish colorsPhysical Requirements: Stand for long periods of time, extensive time in front of LCD's and Electronic Gaming Machine screens, repetitive motion to open heavy Electronic Gaming Machine doorsWork Conditions: The ability to move between projects with little notice and the ability to adapt quickly, overtime and weekend hours may be required to meet project schedules, limited travel may be requiredThe physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
