Job Description
We are seeking an Assistant/Associate Scientist – Manufacturing Sciences & Technology (MSAT) to support the Materials and Cryogenics Science group. This position will focus on cryogenics, consumables, materials, and single-use systems that enable commercial biopharmaceutical manufacturing operations.
The Associate Scientist will collaborate with Manufacturing, Manufacturing Technology, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Supply Chain, and Global Procurement teams on cross-functional
initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Support material and cryogenics technical evaluations, risk assessments, and change management activities.
- Execute material control strategies, validations, and qualifications, including lifecycle management.
- Evaluate and manage supplier change notifications to maintain GMP compliance.
- Support cryogenics and cold-chain transportation laboratory studies and related activities.
- Assist with materials and cryogenics manufacturing investigations.
- Author and revise CMC documents as appropriate.
- Author protocols, reports, and technical presentations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support manufacturing and technical activities.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum BS degree with 2+ years of industry experience , or MSc in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, Chemistry, or an equivalent scientific discipline.
- Pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry experience is required.
- Awareness of cGMP and regulatory agency requirements .
- Knowledge of common protein analytical tools and demonstrated experimental laboratory skills.
- Strong organizational, oral communication, and technical writing skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and experimental/troubleshooting aptitude.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of manufacturing process validation .
- Experience with cryogenics and cold-chain transportation.
- Experience with single-use systems for bioprocessing.
- Experience with material qualification, validation, change control, or manufacturing investigations.
Must-Haves
- BS + 2 years of industry experience OR MSc
- Background in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, Chemistry, or related scientific field
- Pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical industry experience
- Strong laboratory and experimental skills
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
