Our client, a leading American biopharmaceutical company, is seeking a talented and highly motivated Scientist with a strong interest in advancing Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies for genomics research. This role will sit within their Bioinformatics and Sequencing group in Santa Monica and support a growing R&D portfolio focused on drug target and biomarker discovery.

Responsibilities
- Extract and prepare DNA and RNA from a variety of biological samples
- Prepare DNA, RNA, and ATAC-seq libraries from bulk and/or single-cell samples for NGS sequencing
- Perform quality control (QC) on biological samples and sequencing libraries
- Troubleshoot experimental procedures and optimize library preparation and sequencing protocols under supervision
- Conduct Next Generation Sequencing experiments on Illumina platforms and other sequencing technologies
- Perform qPCR for library quality assessment
- Stay current with advancements in genomics technologies and develop expertise in NGS applications
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of experiments in an electronic laboratory notebook (ELN)
- Present scientific findings clearly in team meetings and collaborative discussions
Basic Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in a relevant scientific field
- Bachelor’s Degree with 2+ years of scientific experience
- Associate’s Degree (AA) with 4+ years of scientific experience
- High School Diploma with 5+ years of scientific laboratory experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Genetics, or related fields
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with NGS platforms and assays
- Hands-on experience with DNA and RNA extraction from diverse sample types
- Ability to learn new techniques quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and solve scientific problems
- Strong organizational skills and efficiency in task management
- Goal-oriented mindset and willingness to take on additional responsibilities
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with LIMS systems and electronic lab notebooks such as Benchling
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Strong work ethic with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
