Small boutique law firm seeking associate attorney. The firm represents families of students with disabilities seeking appropriate educational services from their local school districts, under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and local implementing regulations. The ideal candidate will independently manage a caseload, which will include both settling claims and litigation in an administrative law forum. This job is remote, with a 1 day weekly in-office requirement, at our midtown Manhattan location.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal support and counsel to clients
- Maintain client relationships
- Legal research and drafting
- Review of settlement agreements
- All phases of litigation, including preparing openings, closing, testimony, cross-examination
Qualifications
- NYS Bar admission
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong legal knowledge
- Experience/knowledge of the IDEA and special education preferred
- Litigation experience
