Job Description

This role is a faculty position that involves teaching, mentorship, curriculum development, clinical practice advancement, research, and administrative service within the Intermountain Health system.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows; develop and deliver educational content and evaluate learners.
  • Design and implement effective curriculum and assessment processes, ensuring compliance with accreditation requirements.
  • Serve as a role model for clinical care, demonstrating skillful history, physical examination, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Participate in lectures, grand rounds, training programs, and educational committees.
  • Lead or assist in quality improvement projects, clinical practice advancement, and health services research initiatives.
  • Provide administrative support, including program planning, reporting, and participation in leadership committees.
  • As Program Director or Associate Program Director: oversee program operations, mentor faculty, and strategize program growth.
  • As Site Director: coordinate resident training at external institutions, ensure accreditation compliance, and facilitate faculty development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O. from an accredited institution.
  • Active medical licensure or in process of obtaining licensure.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • ABMS or equivalent AOA board certification in related specialty.
  • Three years of experience leading improvement projects in a clinical setting.
  • Experience with documentation improvement and utilization review.
  • Change management experience and leadership in technology implementation.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Three years of progressive healthcare leadership experience.
  • Active privileges at an Intermountain Hospital and credentialing by SelectHealth.
  • Demonstrated competence in professional field of practice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Training in improvement science (Six Sigma, Lean, project management).
  • Experience in a complex health system, including hospitals and ambulatory clinics.
  • Demonstrated leadership of clinicians.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to interact verbally with patients and staff.
  • Operating computers, telephones, and office equipment with manual dexterity.
  • Continuous sitting or standing for computer work.
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity for delicate equipment handling and typing.

Location and Compensation

Intermountain Health Utah Valley Hospital – Provo, Utah. Scheduled weekly hours: 8. Hourly rate range: $7.25 – $999.99 (actual rate depends on experience).
