Texas A&M University – Texarkana is launching the East Texas Rural Healthcare initiative. The Associate/Full Professor & Division Chair, Nursing will lead the division in service of this mission.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the chief academic officer of the division and report to the Dean of College.
- Administer the division, including budgeting, planning, and programmatic offerings.
- Recruit, hire, supervise, evaluate, and support faculty and staff.
- Prepare and maintain the division’s course schedule, records, and faculty appointments.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for student concerns and coordinate student support services.
- Maintain an annual teaching load of at least three hours during fall and spring semesters and offer a summer class as needed.
- Develop and revise curriculum, oversee accreditation activities, and ensure the quality of all academic programs.
- Lead faculty development, promote collaboration, and support scholarly productivity.
- Ensure compliance with college, university, system, and state policies and advise the Dean and Provost on academic matters.
- Oversee fiscal operations, develop and monitor the division’s budget, and allocate resources appropriately.
- Represent the division at conferences, community events, and public relations activities.
Qualifications
- Earned a Doctorate and a Master’s degree in nursing from a CCNE-accredited institution.
- At least four years of teaching experience in a professional nursing program.
- Current, unencumbered registration as a nurse in the state of Texas.
- Evidence of scholarship and a clear research agenda.
- Record of teaching excellence.
- Experience in program and curricular development and in developing/accrediting CCNE and TBON programs.
- Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience supervising faculty, staff, and developing a collaborative departmental culture.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in nursing or a related field.
- Eligibility for tenure and full professor rank.
- Experience in competency‑based education programming.
- Successful acquisition of grant funding.
