The Associate Product Development Chemist supports the development of new products, enhancement of existing formulations, and their successful transition into manufacturing.
This role collaborates with research teams on sensory and consumer studies, while partnering with Quality Control and Manufacturing to ensure consistent product quality. Additionally, the position provides technical and analytical support for testing and special projects, and assists in the preparation and maintenance of regulatory documentation to ensure compliance with applicable standards.Your 'day to day'Support Product Development Chemist in the formulation and development of new products, including prototype preparation and testingCollect, analyze, and report data to guide product development decisionsAssist in defining and optimizing critical processing parameters for new and existing productsLead selected product development projects and maintain accurate project documentation and timelinesCoordinate team activities and utilize project management tools to ensure deadlines are metConduct competitive benchmarking to evaluate market positioning and product performanceCollaborate with Manufacturing and Quality Control teams to implement new products and maintain quality standardsDevelop and document processing specifications and physical testing methodsEvaluate and qualify raw materials, ingredients, and packaging componentsInvestigate consumer complaints, product defects, and rework opportunities to support continuous improvementPartner with Analytical Services to conduct testing, interpret results, and support troubleshootingPrepare samples for sensory and consumer testing; interpret results to assess product performance and differencesMaintain laboratory organization, cleanliness, and adherence to standard proceduresSupport ISO requirements through documentation and maintenance of work instructionsReview raw materials for regulatory compliance and assist in the preparation of regulatory documentationCollaborate with Regulatory teams on submissions and communication with governing agenciesPerform additional duties and special projects as assignedWho we're looking for:Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline, or equivalent experienceMinimum of 1 year of experience as a Chemical Analyst or in a similar role, preferably working with tobacco or related productsSkillsStrong creativity and problem-solving skills with the ability to design and execute experimentsEffective project management and organizational abilitiesStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to evaluate and distinguish differences in tobacco or similar productsWorking knowledge of laboratory and analytical procedures, including data interpretationWork Environment & Physical RequirementsProlonged periods of sitting and working at a computerAbility to stand for extended periods of timeAbility to lift up to 50 poundsComfortable working with chemicals, including nicotineAbility to work in environments with dust exposureAnnual Base Salary Range: $80,000-$100,000What's 'nice to have'Legally authorized to work in the U.S. (required)What we offerWe offer a competitive base salary, annual bonus (applicable based on level of position), great medical, dental and vision coverage, 401k with a generous company match, incredible wellness benefits, and much more!Seize the freedom to define your future and ours.
