About the Opportunity

The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Departmentof Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences seek a highly innovativeand experienced 52-week non-tenure track (NTT) faculty member toserve as Associate/ Full Teaching Professor and Director ofGraduate Programs, acting as the academic and administrative leaderfor the School's M.S. and Ph.D. programs. In addition to thetypical faculty workload of teaching and scholarship, this role'sservice focus includes advancing, scaling, and modernizing graduateeducation (in all its modalities: on ground, online synchronous orasynchronous, hybrid; and across the global university system ofnetwork campuses), with particular emphasis on interdisciplinaryareas such as biomedical sciences, AI-driven drug discovery,biopharma and biotech, translational therapeutics, and otheremerging fields. The position will also provide thegovernance(KC1.1)(CS1.2), oversight and operational rigor requiredto sustain high-quality curriculum, assessment, and studentsupport/success led by experiential learning and partner-drivencollaboration.

The Director will chair the SOPPS M.S. and Ph.D. Committee,advancing the Committee's agenda in response to standing chargesand charges assigned by the SOPPS executive committee. The Directorwill guide the Committee on curriculum development and assessmentin alignment with institutional imperatives and the standards ofthe New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), includingthe development of learning outcomes and application of assessmentstrategies. In addition to this governance role, the successfulcandidate will lead strategic growth of the MS and PhD programsacross domestic and internation markets, enhance studentrecruitment and outcomes, and develop industry-aligned curriculathat position the School, Department, College, and University as anational leader.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Leadership, Governance & Oversight

  • Serve as the primary academic and administrative lead forgraduate programs ensuringe program alignment with institutional,accreditation, and regulatory requirements, including NECHEstandards.
  • Oversee curriculum governance, updates, and complianceprocesses related to MS or PhD programs in the school
  • Manage program assessment, evaluation, and continuouscurriculum improvement processes in collaboration with theM.S./Ph.D. Committee, Program Manager, and the Office of theAssistant Dean of Academic Affairs and Assessment
  • Chair the M.S./Ph.D. Committee, advancing its agenda inresponse to standing and assigned chargesWork with the M.S./Ph.D.faculty and leadership at the Department and School to seekindustry collaborations and funding opportunities such asindustry-led PhD contracts, training grants, pre-doctoralfellowships, and other funding from industry, government and othersources

Curriculum Innovation & Assessment

  • Propose and develop new market-aligned graduatecourses/programs (e.g., AI in drug discovery, cell therapy,immuno-engineering, among others) in collaboration with thestrategic vision of the Department and School, and in closecollaboration with the Bouvé Dean's Office and the university'sInnovation Planning and Development and EM Product Launchunits
  • Lead modernization and scaling of existing and future programswith particular emphasis on interdisciplinary areas such asbiomedical sciences, AI- and technology driven integration,biopharma and biotech, translational therapeutics, and otheremerging fields
  • Ensure appropriate curricular content delivery based onlearning modalities (i.e., on ground, online synchronous orasynchronous, hybrid, etc.) and location across the globaluniversity system of network campuses
  • Integrate experiential learning, industry partnerships, andresearch-based training
  • Guide the M.S./Ph.D. Committee in developing learning outcomesand applying assessment strategies consistent with NECHEstandards
  • Direct the delivery and annual review of the M.S. and Ph.D.curricula and associated learning-assessment programs
  • Develop systems to collect, analyze, and report assessment datadrawn from students, faculty, staff, alumni, and experientialpartners for accreditation and other tracking needs across theDepartment, School, College University.

Student Success, Mentoring & Academic Integrity

  • Oversee student progression, advising structures, and milestoneachievement in collaboration with program faculty and staff.
  • Ensure timely completion of academic and administrativemilestones (e.g., candidacy, graduation)
  • Provide graduate-student mentoring and advising
  • Serve as an ex officio member of all MS thesis and PhDdissertation committees when not an official member
  • Formulate, execute, and oversee remediation plans for studentacademic misconduct and academic probation in collaboration withthe Bouvé Office of Student Services
  • Collaborate with student services and global programs,including the Bouvé Graduate Office and the Bouvé Office ofGraduate Advising and Student Services, to ensure conformity withNECHE curricular and assessment accreditation standards

Student Recruitment & Enrollment Growth

  • Partner with enrollment management to develop and executerecruitment strategies
  • Evaluate graduate applicants and improve yield from diverse,high-quality candidate pools
  • Expand domestic and international pipelines
  • Collaborate with the SOPPS Assistant Director of Admissions andthe PhD Program Manager to advance graduate-student recruitingefforts, including outreach campaigns, applicant evaluations,admissions offers, and offer follow-up

External Engagement & Partnerships

  • Build partnerships with industry, biotech, hospitals, researchinstitutions, and other potential partners to strengtheneducational programs for students and professional opportunitiesfor alumni
  • Develop co-op opportunites, advisory boards, and collaborativetraining programs to benefit the program
  • Represent the program in external and internal meetings,activities, and events

Faculty & Instructional Leadership

  • Work with the Department Chair on aspects related to thechair's determination of teaching assignments and coursescheduling
  • Work with the Department Chair on aspects related to thechair's recruitment and oversight of oversee part-time/adjunctfaculty
  • Teach graduate courses per year based on departmental workloadpolicies and administrative role as program director, which usuallycarries 1-2 course releases per year
  • Plan for and engage appropriate offices and individuals inprofessional development activities for faculty and staff incurriculum, pedagogy, educational innovation, and assessment

Strategic Growth, Reporting & Communication

  • Identify new market-align program opportunities and teachingmodalities (i.e., on ground, online synchronous or asynchronous,hybrid, etc.) such as MS in Biomedical AI, Cell Therapy, DigitalHealth)
  • Lead grant development and educational funding initiatives tobenefit graduate students in MS and PhD programs
  • Align programs with workforce and marketneeds/opportunities
  • Provide input into the School's strategic initiatives withrespect to graduate programs
  • Work with Department, School and College faculty and staffinvolved in curriculum, experiential learning, enrollmentmanagement, research, scholarship, and innovation to advance,scale, and modernize graduate education
  • Compile the annual MS and PhD Committee Report and assist inpreparing school-wide annual goals for the MS/PhD programs
  • Ensure efficient communication with school and college facultyand staff regarding curriculum and assessment activities related tograduate pharmaceutical sciences courses

Faculty Responsibilities

  • All faculty are expected to engage in teaching and scholarship.Teaching workload will be discussed annually with the departmentchair and will be allocated based on departmental workloadpolicy.

Qualifications

Required:

  • PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Sciences,Bioengineering, or related field
  • Significant experience in graduate education leadership orprogram development
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement innovativecurricula
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Experience with committee governance, curriculum, programmaticassessment, and accreditation processes

Preferred:

  • Experience in interdisciplinary fields (drug development,AI/ML, immuno-oncology, cell therapy, digital health)
  • Industry or translational research experience
  • Track record of successful student recruitment and programgrowth
  • Experience managing accreditation or program evaluation,including NECHE or similar regional accreditors
  • Experience chairing academic or graduate committees

Pay Range:

  • Associate Teaching Professor: $122,000.00 - $145,000.00 | TeachingProfessor: $129,000.00 - $161,000.00 | Associate TeachingProfessor: $122,000.00 - $145,000.00 | Teaching Professor:$129,000.00 - $161,000.00
