Associate Medical Director - San Juan Capistrano, CA

Salary: Pay Range $300,000 - $335,000 per year. Salary offers are based on relevant skills, training, experience, education, and applicable certifications, with consideration of market and organizational factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibilities

• Scientific: Honor requests for consultations from clinicians regarding the appropriateness and interpretation of laboratory tests; provide input for new research developments; contribute to educational programs for medical and laboratory staff.
• Clinical Consultant / Technical Supervisor responsibilities (as delegated by Laboratory Director): collaborate on test method selection and validation; ensure proficiency testing is conducted timely and corrective actions taken when results are unsatisfactory; monitor quality control to maintain analytical performance; participate in non-conformance management and corrective/preventive actions.
• Collaborate on Job Assignments and Authorization Matrix (JAAM) and annual Performance and Development Review (PDR) to ensure appropriate training and performance for testing offered; review Standard Operating Procedures; review report formats and interpretative reporting as needed.
• Lab Management: participate in Subspecialty Teams and management meetings; interact with academic associates and internal/external clients to facilitate information transfer; attend national meetings to maintain knowledge and representation.

Qualifications

• Board certification required; MD licensure or eligibility to practice in the state of the laboratory
• At least 2 years of experience supervising high-complexity testing in inpatient/outpatient settings; exposure to Laboratory Management, Administration, Finance, Marketing or Human Resources is a plus
• Professionalism consistent with the values and objectives of the organization
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• New York State-specific requirements for laboratory directors or assistant directors as applicable
