Associate Mechanical EngineerLocation: Vacaville, CA Duration: 12 MonthsShift AvailabilityThere are 2 Day Shift roles remaining:Front Day Shift: Sunday – Wednesday (Wednesday is the rotating 3-4-3 day)Back Day Shift: Wednesday – Saturday (Wednesday is the rotating 3-4-3 day)Job DescriptionThe primary responsibility of a Process Mechanic is to maximize equipment availability for processing by safely maintaining equipment through preventive and corrective maintenance and repairs.To support these activities, Process Maintenance provides personnel 24 hours a day, 7 days per week for maintenance, discrepancy response, contractor oversight, vendor resource management, project support, and training. All Process Mechanics are trained to perform routine maintenance in primary manufacturing support areas, Materials Management, Quality Control Labs, and Utility Operations.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance & Repair: Repair and repetitive maintenance of valves, centrifuges, pumps, autoclaves, washers, tanks, and associated piping. Rebuild pumps, valves, bearing assemblies, and mechanical sealsSafety & Compliance: Comply with cGMP, SOP, and manufacturing documentation.
Comply with all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) policies. Perform safety inspections of rigging and fall protection equipmentField Operations: Safe operation of tools and shop equipment, and safe execution of work in the field. Perform confined space entries and work at heights to access valves and lockout points.Documentation: Exhibit detail-oriented documentation skills to ensure Right-First-Time operations.
Ensure timely completion of tasks and work orders with appropriate documentation according to standard operating procedures, applicable standards, guidelines, practices, and policiesTechnical Skills: Read and understand Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P&ID). Evaluate/review Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) content and red-line where appropriate. Collection and organization of technical data from equipment manufacturers, equipment users, and engineering personnelCollaboration & Communication: Cross-functional interaction with Manufacturing, Quality, Technology, Engineering, and other departments to ensure satisfactory performance of equipment and systems.
Escalate process issues as necessary to ensure resolutionSupport & Training: Assist with systems start-up and validation. Assist with the identification, purchase, and organization of spare parts. Train other mechanics in group and individual settingsDigital Tools: Computer skill level appropriate to navigate and use corporate intranet and related applications, CMMS, and standard word processing and spreadsheet programs.Key RequirementsEducation: High School DiplomaExperience: 5–6 years of relevant experienceTechnical Knowledge: Strong understanding of industrial process maintenance and systems.Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with reasonable accommodationsLicense: Valid driver's license.
