Job Summary
Associate Instructor - Korean Language Program The Department of World Languages and Cultures (WLC) at the University of Utah invites applications for a part‑time Associate Instructor to teach first‑year Korean during the Fall 2026 semester. Duties include teaching KOREA 1010‑001 on Monday and Wednesday 9:40 am–11:20 am, assigning and grading homework, quizzes, and tests. All course material is ready for use, so the instructor does not need to prepare new material. The position begins August 16, 2026. A valid driver’s license or passport is required.
Responsibilities
- Teach KOREA 1010‑001, a first‑year Korean language course, each Monday and Wednesday 9:40 am–11:20 am.
- Assign and grade homework, quizzes, and tests.
- Coordinate instruction with other Korean staff in the WLC department.
- Use pre‑prepared course material; no additional preparation required.
Qualifications
- MA or other professional degree in Korean or foreign language teaching or related area.
- Experience teaching Korean at elementary or intermediate levels.
- Native or near‑native fluency in Korean; fluency in English expected.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license or passport.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness (letter of application, CV, and, if requested, letters of recommendation).
Benefits and Compensation
- This is a non‑benefit position. Salary is based on classroom enrollment, with a guaranteed base of $4,200 per course and incremental increases per pupil.
