Job Summary
Associate Instructor – Korean Language Program. The Department of World Languages and Cultures (WLC) at the University of Utah invites applications for a part‑time Associate Instructor to teach first‑year Korean during the Fall 2026 semester. Duties include teaching KOREA 1010‑001 on Mon/Wed 9:40 am‑11:20 am and assigning and grading homework, quizzes, and tests. All course material is ready for use, so the instructor does not need to prepare new material. Mentoring is provided. A valid driver’s license or passport is required. Position begins August 16, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Teach KOREA 1010‑001 to first‑year students on a part‑time basis.
- Assign and grade homework, quizzes, and tests.
- Coordinate instruction with other Korean teaching staff in the WLC department.
- Collaborate as part of a team to ensure effective language instruction.
Qualifications
- MA or other professional degree in Korean, foreign language teaching, or related field.
- Experience teaching Korean at elementary or intermediate levels.
Minimum Qualifications
- Native or near‑native fluency in Korean.
- Fluency in English.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and a letter of application, CV, and references.
Preferences
- Additional teaching experience or advanced Korean qualifications.
Benefits
Salary is based on classroom enrollment, with a guaranteed base of $4,200 per course and incremental increases per pupil.
Eligible new hires are participants in the Utah Retirement System (URS) and may elect to enroll before becoming eligible for retirement.
