About the Role: The role focuses on contracts, SAS and AI experience. This position is a direct hire and is a backfill for a previous role.

Pay range and compensation package - Base Salary: $150-170k

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate and draft contract, including software licensing agreements, provider contracts and vendor contracts.
  • Act as lead attorney and provide legal counsel to the following area: Cybersecurity, Procurement & Vendor Contracts, Business Continuity, Transparency & Interoperability, Marketing (including Digital Marketing).
  • Manage Vendor Contract Forms; regularly evaluate Form language updating when needed.
  • Manage and provide consultation with Related Party Agreements (other than those for Medicare and Medicaid entities).
  • Advise various divisions/departments concerning healthcare and corporate issues including statutory and regulatory compliance, litigation avoidance, and prospective corrective action.
  • Supervise responses to DOI, attorney, provider, and subscriber complaints, including drafting responses, reviewing responses drafted by paralegals and/or research assistants, and consulting with other employees on responses.
  • Represent the Plan at certain local and national conferences, as needed.
  • Perform public speaking activities both in the Plan and to community organizations concerning relevant legal and healthcare issues.
  • Gather and analyze data for special risk management projects.
  • Work with Internal Audit and other departments on fraud investigations and prosecutions.
  • The position requires a full-time work schedule. Full-time is defined as working at least 40 hours per week, plus any additional hours as requested or as needed to meet business requirements.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Required Education - Juris Doctorate
  • Required Licenses - Active, current, and unrestricted license to practice law in the State of Arizona
  • Required Certifications - Admission to State Bar

Required Skills

  • Intermediate skill in use of office equipment, including copies, fax machines, scanner and telephones
  • Intermediate proficiency in spreadsheet, database, and word processing

Preferred Skills

  • Healthcare (not required, nice to have)
