Overview
Inthisposition,youwillberesponsibleforprovidinglegalcounseltokeyleadershipwithinMelaleucabyidentifyingandanalyzinglegalissuesandcommunicatingeffectivelegaladviceintheareasofPrivacy,Litigation,andTransactionallaw.TheAGCproactivelyengageswithbusinessclientstobetterunderstandMelaleuca’sstrategicandoperationalobjectives;engagesandcollaborateswithinternalpartnerswithinallassigneddepartmentsandtheGeneralCounsel;worksindependentlyonmattersofsignificancetotheorganization;andhasin-depthexperiencedknowledgeandtheproventrackrecordtoleadeffortstoresolvesophisticatedissues.Thisrolesupervisesoneotherattorney.
Responsibilities
- Providingclear,practical,andactionableprivacyadvicetoenablebusinessstrategiesandeffortsacrosstheenterprise;
- Developingandmaintainingcollaborativerelationshipswithteamsandstakeholdersthroughouttheenterprise;
- Partneringwithandbecomingatrustedadvisortostakeholdersacrosstheenterprise,includingwithseniorleaderswithinandoutsideoftheLegalDepartment;
- Identifyingandleadingexistingandemergingrisksthatstemfrombusinessactivitiesandthejobrole.
- Ensuringrisksassociatedwithbusinessactivitiesareeffectivelyidentified,measured,supervised,andcontrolled.
- Followingwrittenriskandcompliancepolicies,standards,andproceduresforbusinessactivities;
- Independentlyprovidinglegalcounseltoseniorleadershiptosupportbusinessobjectivesandleadregulatory,complianceandlitigationrisktoMelaleuca;
- Leadingsophisticatedlegalassignmentswithahighlevelofbusinessimpactanddeliversappropriatesolutions;
- Effectivelycommunicatingwithpartnersandvaryinglevelsofleadershipinbothverbalandwrittenforms;
- Producingclearandconciselegalpositionsinvolvinghighlycomplexissues;
- Proactivelyandanalyzeschangesinlaws,regulationsandindustryandadvisesappropriateorganizationalleadershipofsuchchangesinatimelymanner;
- Anticipatingpotentialorfuturelegalandoperationalissuesthatpresentarisktotheorganizationandproactivelyengageswithotherstoidentifypotentialsolutions;
- Providingleadershipthroughcross-functionalprojectsthathaveamaterialimpacttoMelaleuca;
- Effectivelyleadingoutsidecounseltoacquirelegaladvice.
- CoordinatingwiththeGeneralCounselonperiodicreportingonresults,budgets,forecasts,exposureanalysisandstrategiestotheManagementTeam,aswellasevaluatinglegalstrategies,expensesandreserveswiththeCompany’sindependentauditors,riskmanagersandbusinessunitleaders;and
- Draftingandnegotiatingcontractstomemorializethesedeals.
Qualifications
- AbilitytorelocatetoIdahoFalls,IDandworkin-person5daysaweek(reloassistanceprovided)
- 6+yearsofexperienceasalawyeratatop-tierlawfirmorin-houselegaldepartment.
- Excellenttimemanagement,analysis,andadvisingskills;
- Abilitytosuccinctlysummarizerecommendationsandtailorcommunicationsbyaudience;
- Experienceinreviewing,drafting,andnegotiatingawiderangeofcommercialcontracts;
- Abilitytoprovidepractical,business-focusedlegaladvicetointernalstakeholdersoncontractual,regulatory,andgeneralcorporatelegalmatters;
- Abilitytoidentifyandassesslegalrisks,proposemitigationstrategies,andsupportcross-functionalteamsinresolvinglegalissuesefficiently;
- Familiaritywithexistingandemergingtechnologyande-commercepreferred(butnotrequired);and
- Knowledgeofprivacylawsandexperienceidentifying,analyzingandadvisingonprivacyriskpreferred(butnotrequired).
