Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, Novelis has approximately 13,000 employees in 32 operating facilities on 4 continents.The Novelis Legal team is seeking a highly experienced Associate General Counsel-Compliance to help lead and enhance its global governance, compliance and ethics programs. This role will partner closely with the Chief Compliance Officer and senior leadership to develop compliance strategy, oversee global governance programs, drive global training and awareness, and monitor evolving regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.

The ideal candidate will bring significant in-house compliance experience, strong leadership and business acumen, and deep knowledge of global regulatory frameworks, with a demonstrated ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical business solutions while fostering a strong culture of ethics and integrity across the organization.ResponsibilitiesSupport the Chief Compliance Officer in establishing global compliance strategy and long-term priorities aligned with business objectivesProvide strategic legal counsel to senior leadership and contribute to Board-level reportingMonitor global regulatory developments and advise on applicable laws, regulations, and industry standardsImplement systems and processes to ensure ongoing compliance and risk mitigationOversee development, implementation, and maintenance of compliance policies and proceduresIdentify compliance risks and implement corrective action plans to address gapsSupport the development of compliance training and awareness programsEvaluate effectiveness of training programs and drive continuous improvementSupport oversight of enterprise governance structuresEnhance ethics programs, including ethics reporting systems, anti-retaliation measures, and conflict-of-interest processesMonitor developments in global trade regulations, sanctions, tariffs, and export controlsProvide guidance to mitigate legal and regulatory risks across regionsMinimum QualificationsJuris Doctor from an accredited law school and active bar license in good standing in at least one state15+ years of experience in corporate and compliance roles, including in-house experience in a large organizationStrong understanding of applicable laws and regulations, including anticorruption, antitrust, sanctions, environmental, and health & safetyDemonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, make sound decisions, and drive timely and effective action to ensure compliance and data integrityExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex legal and compliance concepts into practical, business-oriented guidanceStrong business acumen and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to anticipate risks and advise across a variety of business scenariosProven leadership capabilities and ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including executive leadershipAbility to align priorities and resources with business strategy while promoting a strong compliance cultureStrong relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and regionsSelf-motivated, flexible, and able to manage multiple complex projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced, global environmentDemonstrated commitment to continuous learning and improving the effectiveness and maturity of compliance programsAbility to work effectively in a global, dynamic environment with an operational mindsetHigh attention to detail with a quality-driven approach and ability to independently identify and resolve issuesPreferred Qualifications5+ years leading a compliance function, including personnel and budget managementDeep expertise in the areas of antitrust, anticorruption and/or international data privacy regulationsExperience in a multinational or global manufacturing environment*Please note that we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
