Associate Field Service EngineerSony Biotechnology Inc., based in San Jose, California, supplies advanced flow cytometry analysis and sorting technology for use in life science research. It markets products to private and public research institutions, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, and large medical centers.Sony Biotechnology is seeking an Associate Field Service Engineer to train with our flow cytometry service team in the New England and NY Metro region. This is a fixed-term position of up to 12 months, designed for recent college graduates interested in gaining hands-on technical field experience.The position may potentially lead to a full-time regular Field Service Engineer I position for selected candidates, based on business needs, performance, and qualifications.The Associate Field Service Engineer will work alongside experienced Field Service Engineers to learn how to support flow cytometry equipment at customer sites through installations, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair services.

This will lead to working independently.Primary Region:New England: Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Upstate New YorkNY Metro: New York, New Jersey, PennsylvaniaPeriodic travel to Eastern Canada and other Eastern sub-regions may be required on an as-needed basisKey Responsibilities:Train alongside Field Service Engineers at customer site visits, including installations, preventive maintenance, and repairsAssist with troubleshooting technical issues related to flow cytometry instrumentationLearn and follow service procedures, technical memos, safety standards, and documentation requirements, along with how to use Salesforce and prepare a Field Service Report.Communicate product quality observations or service concerns to appropriate team membersWork closely with Field Service, Sales, and Field Applications teamsSupport customer satisfaction through professional communication and timely follow-upAssist with maintaining service parts and inventory organization, completing expense reports in a timely manner and entering hours into your timesheet on a weekly basis.Develop understanding of flow cytometry systems, including optics, fluidics, electronics, and pneumaticsTravel to customer sites as required within the assigned regionQualifications:Applicants should be recent college graduates within the past 6 monthsMust hold a 2-year Associate degree or 4-year Bachelor's degree (preferred)Degree should be in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related technical disciplineInterest in field service, laboratory instrumentation, medical devices, biotechnology, or life science equipmentStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong customer focus and professional communication skillsHighly organized with good follow-up skillsSelf-motivated team player with a willingness to learnBasic understanding of flow cytometry or related scientific disciplines is a plusComputer skills required, including typing, email, and basic software useAdditional Requirements:Must have a valid driver's license and own or have access to a reliable vehicleMust hold a valid U.S. passport for potential travel to CanadaMust be authorized to work in the United StatesAbility to travel, including overnight travel, as neededFlexibility with schedule and ability to adapt to last-minute changesCandidate will be expected to work from home learning how to assist customer's on the phone/remotely for technical troubleshooting when not traveling to customer sitesProgram Details:Fixed-term post graduate position of up to 12 monthsField-based role supporting the New England region or NY Metro regionMay lead to a full-time regular position for selected candidatesBenefits:SCA offers benefits-eligible fixed-term employees (who are scheduled to work 30 or more hours a week) certain benefits under the Sony Corporation of America Health and Welfare Benefits Plan. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
