Associate Director Station Operations (New York)

As the lead Station Operations subject matter expert for Network Rail Consulting, you will provide guidance on station design and maximize operation provision during major station upgrades or transformation projects.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure the station design fully supports effective facility maintenance and long‑term asset performance by working with stakeholders to define operational, maintenance, and lifecycle requirements early in the design process.
  • Identify risks associated with handback of assets to station maintainers, surface them early, and mitigate them.
  • Actively manage multiple stakeholder groups involved in maintenance and gain alignment on responsibilities, standards, and timing to avoid gaps or conflicts.
  • Review building systems, equipment locations, access routes, and back‑of‑house layouts to enable efficient inspections, servicing, and repairs, and challenge designs to minimise whole‑life cost.
  • Apply experience from similar facilities to identify potential maintainability issues and eliminate risks.
  • Establish asset information needs, maintenance strategies, and technical access requirements for design integration so facilities teams can safely and efficiently operate and maintain the station through construction and into service.

Job Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Member of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or educated to degree level.
  • Relevant experience in successful management of significant projects in construction and/or rail industries.
  • Experience of station operations and rebuilding.
  • Experience of project, stakeholder and change management.
  • Strong communication skills, commercial focus and financial acumen.
  • General knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental Regulations.
  • Project management of station openings.
  • Awareness of US rail structure.
  • Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams and establish relationships at all levels.
