The associate director strategically cultivates an inclusive learning environment for all students by supporting and mentoring non-traditional students, affinity groups, and international students to intentionally foster a holistic sense of belonging.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Multicultural Initiatives: Lead programming that celebrates diversity and educates the campus on cultural competency.
  • International Student Services: Provide dedicated support for international student adjustment and integration.
  • Affinity Groups: Act as the primary adviser and resource for identity-based student organizations.
  • Non-traditional Students: Develop engagement opportunities and programming for non-traditional students, including commuters, first-generation students, online students, and adult students.
  • Service in an on-call rotation for crisis response: Live in a campus apartment and provide staff leadership in crisis response.
  • Other Duties as Assigned

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in Higher Education, Sociology, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Experience: 2–4 years of experience in multicultural affairs, international student services, or DEI programming.
  • Cultural Competence: Deep understanding of the challenges faced by underrepresented and global populations.

In accordance with state laws, Act 73 of 2007, Act 153 of 2014, Act 168 (relating to the Child Protective Services Law), school employees of Eastern University who will have "direct contact with children" must complete the background check process prior to employment. Results must be submitted within ten days of receipt.
